Winnipeg Hosts Maple Leaf Classic 2009

Winnipeg, MB is the place to be on August 7 and 8, 2009.  It is the geographic centre of Canada and it is posed to become the centre of the universe at least in the Setter world.

Our National Specialty will be held in conjunction with Manitoba Canine Association (MCA) All-Breed Show to be held August 6-9.  This is a very special year as the English and Gordon Setter Specialties will be held at the same time.  So it will be a Tri-Setter time!

There will be an opportunity to pick up lots of points as MCA will host 4 all-breed shows and the Manitoba Sporting Dog Specialty will be hosting a Group 1 Specialty.

Conformation will be Saturday August 8 with Judge Geoff Kill from Australia.  Mr. Kill has judged throughout Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Finland, Sweden and South Africa.  His judging appointments have included All-Breeds, Specialty Shows and many Best in Show.  He has bred and shown English Cocker Spaniels and English Setters with over 100 champions to his credit.  He has also exhibited Afghan Hounds, Smooth Fox terriers, English Pointers and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels (all owner handled).  He is President of the Queensland Cocker Spaniel Club, Sporting Gun Dog Lecturer and Co-coordinator for judges in training.

Our Specialty Obedience Trial will be held Saturday August 8 with Judge Jeffrey Lunder, Alberta.  Additionally, there will be 4 All-Breed Obedience Trials

Sweeps will be held Friday August 7 with Judge Judith Brown of Alberta who is a long-time breeder/handler of Gordon Setters.

Canine Good Neighbour tests will be available as well as Junior Handling.

Camping is available.

Plan to join us for an awesome Tri-Setter dinner on-site Saturday evening and a Tri-Setter Grooming Seminar with Professional Handler, Yvonne Norton from Alberta.

If you have never been to Winnipeg you must come.  It is a great city with lots to see and do.
